The present holds all that is possible. This is where we will start exploring the fourth agreement, Always Do Your Best, from Don Miguel Ruiz’s book “The Four Agreements”. Contemplation of what it means to live in the present and choose from all that is possible. We will reflect on our existence, being open for exploration, not trapped in the past or future. With some help from Carl Sagan and star stuff, we can move forward, without judgment, into the new habit of knowing our best is always what we are doing.
“Without a clear sense of where we currently are, what shape our life is in, it is profoundly difficult to engage in that nourishing practice called gratitude. Rather than simply a declaration said over the dinner table or engaged in on Thanksgiving, gratitude can be a lifelong practice reminding us to not lose sight of what’s directly around us.”From Being Thankful for the Present
As a summary, The Four Agreements are:
- Be impeccable with your word
- Don’t take anything personally
- Don’t make assumptions
- Always do your best – Part 1, Part 2
Be grateful for your life exactly as it is, while making subtle changes in daily habits to move toward the person you aspire to be. All that is possible starts where you are and happens one step at a time. The present holds all that is possible.
